Last week, a story broke about a presentation slide used in a Bristol school that listed UKIP as a racist group, along with the English Defence League (EDL), the British National Party (BNP) and others. UKIP’s councillor in Bristol, Michael Frost called the slide ‘outrageous’ and it appears that UKIP supporters were asked by the party’s Bristol branch to respond to the school. The school apologised.
However, it would seem that UKIP supporters were not the only ones that were contacted by UKIP Bristol. On the Facebook page of former EDL leader Tommy Robinson, a man who calls himself ‘Mark Wintz’ commented on the 29th of January. The man, who openly admits to being in the EDL, wrote that UKIP Bristol’s deputy chairman John Langley phoned him the previous night.
(Incidentally, it seems that the picture of the presentation slide was taken by Mark Wintz’s daughter.)
Lo and behold, if you look at John Langley’s friends list, Mark Wintz appears (as well as another EDL profile).
Update: John Langley has written a bullish and frankly bizarre response to being confronted on Twitter about the matter. He suggests that infanticide would have been a good way to prevent criticism of him. Here is his post in full.
The deputy chairman is not the only one in his branch with some explaining to do. More on UKIP Bristol here.
